Wow that's really cool. I got my first copy of Visual Studio through something like this from Microsoft.
Doesn't say how big it is. Probably a bunch of 16Mb they had laying around.
I signed up. We'll see what happens; they say 6-8 weeks for delivery.
I wonder if it is a 120-day evaluation only copy! ;)
Digg!
Oh...crap.
Cool, free hardware. Beats the pants off "free software"
Too funny Jon.
Thanks. I like little deals like this, gives me another new gadget to play with. :)
I sent in for mine, but who knows. It wouldn't surprise me if it's locked to read only so you can't add or remove any files from it. Guess I'll find out when it arrives.
rminkler, hahaha somehow I have the same feeling, either its read-only, or it selectively deletes any file that does not have a "generated by : Microsoft " :)
Is it RW or RO?
usb drives are useless at only 16mb.
They're still very good for holding cryptographic keys -- though you're right it's a small amount of data for other purposes.
We will see, what an easy way to reach out and touch someone...
I'll get mine in 6-8 weeks. This is my 3rd free product from Microsoft.
It would be funny if these are locked and made to be read-only USB keys. All the people signing up for free USB key will be quite disappointed.
Can't wait to plug it into my mac and format it.
Here's hoping it doesn't do the old switcheroo and format your Mac!
I don't think it will be locked. It's free advertising from Microsoft if you are carrying around a Microsoft branded USB Key. It would be negative advertising if it's locked.
It can be 8mb for all I care. It's free!!!!!! I remember all the free stuff we used to get in IT before the .com bust. Now you are lucky to just get a catalog. My T-shirt collection is getting old. Bring back free T-Shirts!!!!
I love using these for passwords etc.
standsolid, hahahahaha :)
Interestingly, if you try to get one using a Mac Safari Browser, the page won't load.
Oh well, I guess I'll have to fire up the PC long enough to get the free thumb drive.
The answers you select ensure that you have read and learned about Microsofts new licensing policy.
They can afford to spend a few cents as long as everyone going for the freebie has been conditioned in the Microsoft way ;-)
I spend enough money with Microsoft that I am not going to refuse any free items that they want to send me.
